Ambassador continued to say,
“I believe
that if Jewish people in the party will be encouraged by your story, they will
donate money for Israel. And we can expect to collect more money from Jews in
U.S. Your speech is your additional duty as military attaché to loosen their
purse strings.”
It was his last minutes to feel somewhat out of
place. Originally, he grew up in military organization, where his superiors'
orders were absolute. An embassy was just like an army. The ambassador was the
highest authority. No one could disobey the ambassador's orders. In addition,
the embassy was dominated by staff of foreign ministry. He was nothing more
than a mere soldier dispatched by the Ministry of Defense. It was a natural
consequence to obey the ambassador.
