Chapter 54 Devil’s invention (2) A thirst for
fame (1/3)
Dr. Girgo chose medical science as his job
because he hated the monotonous farm work on a kibbutz. He aimed to be a doctor
in search of wealth and fame. When he entered college, he selected a researcher
course rather than a general physician course. It was not the result of his
self-judgement whether he was suited for research job or not. It was his
ambition to get reputation in the medical field.
If he consulted patients as a general physician
in sophisticated manner, he made them happy. He would be happy, too. However,
it is nothing more than gratitude or admiration from one patient. Sometimes the
family of patient would appreciate him. His reputation might go up. However,
Doctor Girgo could not be satisfied such petty happiness. He was greedy for
wealth and fame.
