He joined the National Institutes of Health in Washington, D.C., where he started the research study on influenza virus.
Once influenza epidemic took place, the
epidemic overcame by vaccines against it. However, the virus evolved day by
day. One day it transformed into a new virus that was resistant to vaccines,
and it would be raging again. Then, medical science would develop new vaccines.
Virus would evolve following new vaccines. It looked like vicious circle.
But without new vaccines and no matter how the virus
spread widely, it gradually weakened reproductive power due to the resistance
of the human body itself. Virus went into a long sleep called the incubation
period. The virus constantly evolved in response to changes in the external
world, too.
Dr. Girgo tried to unravel the secrets of the
virus at the genetic level. He believed that the results of his experiment
could be applied to the genetic manipulation of Jews to transform them into the
most powerful humankind. It was surely the most powerful life on earth.
