Israel had the universal conscription system, All Israeli citizens including Ashkenazim were conscripted regardless of gender. But the Palestinians were excluded from conscription system. Once Palestinians were involved in the military training and armed with lethal weapons, there would be a high risk that they would turn into terrorist.
The stoic life in the army was intolerable for
young male soldiers. The romance with female soldier was forbidden in the
barracks. Among them, there might be some who fell in love and get married
after discharge. But female soldier was generally calculating. She put the
priority on her marriage in male blood lineage, appearance, and prospects for
career advancement after discharge. The majority of male soldiers were
frustrated on a daily basis.
